Top monthly faves – May 2020

Another month’s spent in lockdown and I focused on using up on products I’ve owned already. There’s no makeup this month that particularly stood out or I haven’t already mentioned in previous months.

Let’s have a look at my May favourites.

Beauty Pie Japanfusion Cleanser

Beauty Pie

Japanfusion pure transforming cleanser – This superlight gentle facial cleanser transforms from gel to oil to milk (in contact with water) is so lovely to use. If you’ve used Oskia Renaissance Cleanser Gel before, then you’d love this. This works just the same way and feels the same on the skin, both on application and post-cleansing. This cleanser is formulated with antioxidant ingredients that help keep free radicals from aging, as well as ingredients that deliver moisture and firmness, visibly re-energises the complexion and reduces visible lines and wrinkles through deep hydration and skin-surface nourishing. It leaves the skin feels very clean (not in a squeaky clean way), fresh and radiant. What makes this special is that it doesn’t contain any fragrance, so this is truly suitable for all skin types even sensitive skin. I enjoy this as my morning cleanse, it’s the perfect balance between cleansing and hydrating.

Available: Standard price £25 or Members price £7.54/10ml – UK (BeautyPie)

Sisley Floral Toning Lotion

Sisley

Floral Toning Lotion – This toner is designed for dry and sensitive skin types. It feels so soothing and refreshing at the same time. With extracts of rose, cornflower, and Witch Hazel, this Floral Toning Lotion will tone the face and provide a brighter, softer complexion. On days when I don’t use acid toner and still fancy to a quick sweep over the face after cleansing, this deluxe sample size alcohol-free toner has been something I’ve reached for. I don’t really own a lot of non-acid toners so when this little bottle is finished, I’m very likely going to purchase a full size.

Available: £72.5/250ml – UK (AllBeauty)*

Indeed Labs Hyaluron

Indeed Labs

Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Facial Serum – This lightweight, fast-absorbing formula that delivers long-lasting hydration to dry or dehydrated skin. This Hyaluronic Acid focussed serum helps to defend against premature ageing and with nutrient-rich Red Marine Algae to encourage circulation. This fragrance-free, oil-free and silicone-free very lightweight gel formula goes onto the skin like a water gel, not sticky. It’s very gentle to the skin. I’ve reviewed this product in full details in my Does your skin need Hyaluronic Acid? post.

Available: Standard size £24.99/30ml – UK (LookFantastic)*

Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Babyfacial

Drunk Elephant

T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial – This 25% AHA / 2% BHA blend of glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric and salicylic acids (also include gram/chickpea flour, pumpkin ferment extract, matcha and apple extract) treatment mask is not for the faint-hearted. It resurfaces to reveal greater clarity, improved skin texture and tone, and more youthful radiance.
The mask has a light creamy lotion texture and it’s unscented just like all Drunk Elephant products are. In terms of application, you need to work way to up 20 mins, tingling or warming sensation is to be expected but it’s quite a gradual. For my sensitive skin (I only use these products when I feel my skin isn’t super sensitive), I can feel tingling but in a bearable way. Once the mask is removed, my skin feels so soft like baby’s bottom. According to Drunk Elephant, “Babyfacial™ is formulated at the ideal pH level of 3.5 with a blend of acids that work together synergistically to ensure higher efficacy without the redness and sensitization.” I can’t agree more! For me, this is a potent and effective at-home treatment but still gentle at the same time.

Available: $80/50ml – US (DrunkElephant)

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Parfum

Chanel

Coco Mademoiselle Eau De Parfum – One of the all-time favourites for many, myself included. Whether it’s day time or night out, casual or formal occasions this oriental floral perfume is so bold yet versatile. It’s very sophisticated, sensual and feminine but I also think it can work for every age, from a young woman to a more mature lady. The full scent profile looks like this:

Top Notes: Orange, Bergamot, Grapefruit
Heart Notes: Lychee, Rose, Italian Jasmine
Base notes: Indonesian Patchouli, Haitian Vetiver, Bourbon Vanilla, White Musk

What I’d say is that while the top notes seem so fruity but they give a quick spark and go straight to rose and patchouli which are most prominent, the musk and vanilla give an overall warm but still edgy vibe.

Available: £113/100ml – UK (HarveyNichols)*
