I’ve used a few Dr. Jart products on and off for a long time e.g. the Detox BB cream and the Ceramidin lotion and I always end up liking them so much that I would repurchase as soon as they ran out. As I mentioned in the previous blog posts, my skin sensitivity was developed in recent years so I’ve gone into the rabbit hole of finding anything and everything that would soothe and calm the sensitivity and the redness that come with it. Dr Jart’s Cicapair line is also making this claim so I wanted to pick something up but somehow I think the creams might not be right for my skin type. Maybe a little rich? Then I spotted this serum drops, I decided to pick this one up to try.

What is it?

“An ultra-lightweight revitalizing serum and colour corrector that neutralizes redness and turns on skin’s glow.”

What it does

In short, this hybrid serum colour corrects the redness and strengthens skin’s barriers with SPF 20 broad-spectrum sunscreen protects from UV damage.

Formulated with:

  • Tiger Grass/Centella Asiatica extract: Antioxidant, rich in amino acids which is a great hydrating ingredient to soothe rough and irritated skin. With its soothing and healing properties, Centella Asiatica speeds up wound healing, strengthen the skin barrier and increase blood circulation, ideal for sensitive skin which is red, inflamed, irritated or itchy.
  • Chlorophyll (green energy complex): Energises and revitalises tired skin and the antioxidant property protects the skin from environmental damage.
  • Herbs Complex and Minerals Solution: Strengthen skin and relieve stresses.
  • Niacinamide: It can boost collagen production, help with hyperpigmentation, boost skin barrier repairs and anti-inflammatory

Formulated without Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates.

As you can see, the list is long and there are a few essential oils (marked in bold), so if you are sensitive to these ingredients then be careful. Also, there are a few ingredients that are deemed as fungal acne triggers (marked in italic) and have a high comedogenic rating, so those who are acne-prone might also need to watch out.

Who’s it for

Designed for those with sensitivities, redness, dullness and uneven textural concerns. However, as noted above from the ingredients list, anyone with sensitivity to essential oils or have acne-prone concerns should be more careful.

Everything else

Packaging

It’s a plastic bottle with a pipette which can get messy over time around the opening rim. It’s inevitable.

Colour, Texture & Scent

When you initially dispense it, it’s a pale green liquid, feels very lightweight serum-like and a little oily; once apply onto the skin, it changes to beige colour, like a sheer tint foundation. It quickly penetrates the skin’s surface, however, it does depend on the amount in an application. If I apply for 2 – 3 drops, then the product sinks in almost unnoticed. If I do about 5 drops or more, then it leaves a dewy finish. There’s a hint of herbal scent, nothing offensive.

How to use it

After serum, apply two to three drops.

Dr Jart instruction

I usually apply this after all my skincare including sunscreen and put a few drops on areas where I have redness, massage this in and then apply foundation on top.

Final thoughts and experience

In a nutshell, I like it but my feeling towards this fluctuates a lot. Perhaps I had a completely different expectation, I wasn’t expecting this to function more like a makeup product. I was hoping this to be more like Ren Anti-Redness serum* which is a skincare product, works like one and takes down redness almost right away. With Cicapair Tiger Grass Camo Drops, while it takes down redness, it’s harder for me to judge if its effectiveness whether it’s down to the botanical ingredients or the colour correcting aspect. Also, since this has colour pigments I can’t use this in the evenings as a treatment.

As for the application and the finish, I find 2-3 drops to be not enough, I always end up using more. It’s fine when my skin is dehydrated and have some dry patches, this helps to hydrate my skin and it does even the skin tone well, you can even get away with dabbing a bit of concealer on those no-makeup makeup days.

However when my skin isn’t as dehydrated, then it can be overly dewy (even after putting foundation on), this looks like it’s coming through. Given that I’ve oily acne-prone skin, this bothers me sometimes. I think most oily skin types subconsciously worry about clogged pores or breakouts when their skin is looking a bit shiny as that can be an indication of sebum overproduction.

I think this is most suitable for those who have dry skin and don’t have concerns about breakouts and those who have no issues with essential oils.

Would I recommend it? Yes, if you are looking for the hybrid product and have the right skin types.
