I’ve raved about the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair range so much that I always thought this cleanser is part of the range until I started preparing my writing on this. This is from their Pure Skin range but honestly, it might as well be part of the Ultra Repair range as it’s just as gentle and soothing as other products in that range.

Perhaps you are someone like me who’s typically shy away from foaming cleanser because they tend to give you that squeaky feeling, or maybe you like washing your face in the shower and need one that rinses off easily (yes, I do that sometimes and I know I shouldn’t but, let a girl live!). This might be the cleanser for you. Let’s dive in!

What is it?

A fragrance-free, gentle cleanser.

What it does

This pH-balanced formula works to effectively removes makeup, dirt and grime without leaving the skin feel tight or dry. Key ingredients include:

  • FAB Antioxidant Booster: Helps to tackle environmental aggressors with Licorice Root, Feverfew and White Tea extracts.
  • Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract and Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract: Anti-inflammatory ingredients that help to heal and soothe redness and irritation. Licorice Root Extract also provides a skin brightening effect.
  • Glycerin: A natural humectant that helps hydrate and smooth skin’s appearance.
  • Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate: A gentler cleansing agent that won’t compromise the skin barrier. It gives a rich, creamy foam and is based on vegetable fatty acids.

Full Ingredients list

There’re a few ingredients that are classed as either fungal acne triggers or comedogenic (highlighted in italic) so anyone has concerns with those might need to watch out. However, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract is an acne-fighting ingredient so it might counteract the acne triggers.

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser

Who’s it for

Good for all skin types including sensitive and those with dryness and redness skin concerns.

Everything else

Packaging

A very convenient plastic squeeze tube.

Colour, Texture & Scent

The texture of this white pearlescent cleanser is soft and creamy yet lightweight. You can add more/less water to lathers up. Once it’s lathered, it becomes almost whipped airy foam. The foam is still relatively light, not unmanageable bubble bath. It makes either rinsing off or removing with warm washcloth very easy. This is a fragrance-free cleanser and I can’t detect any scents naturally coming from the ingredients either even with my super sensitive nose.

How to use it

Dampen face and dispense a dime-sized amount of cleanser onto fingertips. Gently massage onto all areas of the face. Remove with water or a soft, damp washcloth. Use twice daily, morning and night.

First Aid Beauty instruction

I use this either as a morning cleanse or second cleanse in the evenings. For the morning cleanse, I wet my hands, dispense a pea-sized amount and start on my dry face. For the evening cleanse, my face is already slightly dampened from first cleanse, so I go straight in with the product. I only add a very tiny amount of water, maybe a few drops just to get the product moving. I’m not really bothered with my cleanser emulsifying or foaming up and I prefer to remove it with a warm washcloth. However, I’ve tried rinsing it with water, it worked just as well with no residues and without any stripping or tightness. Both methods leave my skin feels clean and soft.

My thoughts and experience

Overall, this is a good cleanser at a great price point. It’s not your drugstore price but it sits comfortably at the mid-range but the quality far surpasses that. A lot of foaming cleansers tend to give you that squeaky clean feeling or leave you skin feel tight and uncomfortable, this doesn’t do that. You can enjoy the foaming experience, feeling your skin is deeply cleansed and smooth without any dehydrated feel, most importantly this doesn’t irritate the skin at all. If you have sensitive and acne-prone skin and loves using a foaming cleanser, then this very gentle cleanser is definitely worth giving a go.

Would I repurchase? For sure.
