If you are like me who loves sandalwood… Escentric Molecules 04 might be something you’ll enjoy. Technically, it’s Javanol which is the synthetic counterpart of Sandalwood, it has the creaminess of sandalwood in quite a light transparent form without the heavy denseness that sandalwood typically has.
Before we go onto the fragrances, let’s quickly talk about the packaging. Both bottles have very minimalistic graphic designs which I like but you do have to look very closely to differentiate one from another as the letter E and M are quite small. My bottles are travel size 30ml and they come in an aluminium travel case which is super chic. They are quite weighted and sturdy so definitely very protective if you plan to take them around with you.
Molecule 04
This is very similar to 01, both are single molecule, woody base and quite fleeting but 04 feels slightly cosier and a bit sweeter on my skin which is spot on with how Sandalwood would do, whereas 01 which is the Cedarwood counterpart is drier. By comparison, my nose could detect 04 more prominently on my skin than 01 does. This one is good on its own as well as layering with other perfumes, a bit like a glowy primer that you can wear on its own or enhance your makeup look.

Escentric 04 also centres around Javanol but with other notes added to complement it.
Top: Methyl Pamplemousse, Pink Grapefruit, Marijuana, Bergamot, Juniper Berry, Pink Pepper
Heart: Hedione, Freesia, Osmanthus, Orris, Rose
Base: Javanol, Mastic, Labdanum, Iso E Super, Musk, AMBROXAN™
The scent really transitions itself from how the notes are composed, from citrusy-fruity to soft floral, then creamy woody dry down. This smells very gentle and soft but fresh, a very pleasant fragrance with a unique touch to it. It doesn’t come across as generic.
This one has been lovely to apply in the morning, it brightens up my mood to start the day. In terms of projection, it has about 1-2 hours and longevity can be 8+ hours but it sits very close to the skin. This one is perfect for Spring/Summer because of how uplifting it feels.

Thoughts
I love layering these 2 together. Wow! Not just creamy woody vibe I’m getting, the musk seems to come out more in this instance. Of course, you are dialling up the longevity of this concoction. I love this combo! They are absolutely genderless, anyone can wear it!
